Staycation - Seattle Zoo

We decided to do a little Staycation and explore some things in Seattle. We left the morning of Thursday July 9th and came home the evening of the 10th.
We purchased a CityPass which is a great way to see the Zoo, Aquarium, Space Needle, Museum of Flight, Pacific Science center, and take a Harbor cruise for a great price ($54 for adults $39 for youth, Sofia was free at everything). It ends up being 50% less than buying individual tickets for everything. We didn't make it to the Science center, we just ran out of time and energy. But still got more than our money's worth. We started out at the zoo when we first arrived. The 4 blog posts below are the highlights from each venture. I'll warn you - I took a lot of photos, since that is just what I love to do :)

First animals we saw were the penguins, they were friendly as they swam right along the glass

Then the jaguar

Gorillas

A momma and baby, if you look closely in her hand, she threw up and is now eating it and sharing it with her baby...

our two little monkeys

We wanted to feed the giraffes and a zoo worker took us behind some closed zoo workers only area so we could get to them faster and Cameron spotted a peacock, he wanted to touch it. We had to stop him so he wouldn't get bit. He has no fear at times.

Feeding the giraffes, their tongues are so long - can stretch up to 1 1/2 feet long

Paris and Cameron walking along

Hippos

Cameron petting the goats

Sofia checking out the goats

The flamingos, my personal favorite, I could spend a long time just staring at them, since I think they are so beautiful. I took a load of photos, but will only include one here

Cameron peeking at the swan up close, they hang out with the flamingos to keep the ducks away

Sun Bear

Paris showing Cameron where the Orangutange is

Looking at the python

Sofia wanted out of her stroller

the elephants

Cameron wanting to touch another animal - a squirrel

now she is happy in her stroller

Ready to go-

Leaving the zoo - we had a fun visit and saw lots of animals.

Staycation - Space Needle

After the zoo we checked into our hotel -the Westin. We got a great deal on it using Hotwire.com, it is normally $239/night for a King deluxe and we got it for $82. Who doesn't love an awesome deal like that! I asked for a room with a view of the space needle, and we got it -
We had dinner then to the space needle, Cameron was quite excited, but kept asking if it was a rocket.

He loved looking out with the telescope

Here is what he was seeing
Back to our room to watch the sunset and get ready for bed.
It was a long busy day and we were all pretty tired.

Here is the sunset from our hotel windows

Cameron and Sofia watching TV in their jammies

Sofia in her pack-n-play reading one of her favorite stories, she calls it "Dancing Girls"

At around 11pm Sofia finally zonked out, it is a little hard for her to go to sleep with all of us in the same room, and the TV on - Cameron of course fell right asleep on the hide-a-bed couch.
It was funny, we were all so tired the next morning when we woke up that she was asking for Tylenol, she must have had a headache too.....

Staycation - Aquarium

Cameron wishes he could catch a fish this big...
We hit the aquarium first thing Friday morning. There were lots of fun things to see. They especially loved touching the starfish and anenome, and just getting their hands wet.

Looking at the Jellyfish

All the kids were going crazy shouting Nemo, Dori

Baby Salmon

Paris and Cameron checking out the sights.
We had Cod fish and Chips and Salmon fish and Chips from the Crab Pot, then headed to Pier 55 to catch our harbor cruise.
