Kindergarten Zoo trip - May 22

We had a fun kidergarten field trip to the Oregon Zoo! It was a nice warm day and such a busy day, there were loads children from around the area also on field trips. Just bus load after bus load kept filing in. Luckily there were 2 of us moms to be chaperones for our group of 4 boys. We were constantly scanning to keep tabs on them, which at times was tricky with them all wanting to go different directions and walk at different speeds. By the end of the day we were all exhausted.

The group of boys: Caleb, Jaxon, Cameron and Thomas

Cameron playing on the tractor after lunch

Feeding the goats in the petting zoo area. Cameron is so gentle with all of the animals, and doesn't mind them licking his hands and nuzzling on him.

Getting a great view of the mountain lion. Thank goodness that is thick glass because he is giving us a look of "hmmm you might be a tasty treat"

Measuring up to the sun bear

Watching the polar bear play with a giant barrel

We saw the elephants too, Cameron was interested in how big their poop was... lovely.

Cameron's favorite was feeding the merakeets. We bought some nectar cups for $1 and he was in heaven letting them drink from his.

Again, holding so still and being so gentle

Reaching to let them drink.

Below is a video clip of him feeding the birds -

Camping in the Backyard - May 17

The weather was so nice that Paris figured it would be a great,
not to cold night for the first campout of the year in the backyard with Cameron

Cameron peeking through one of the zippered spots in the tent

The TV out in the tent, so they can play Lego Star Wars and watch The Empire Strikes Back

Playing Lego Star Wars

They brought Callaway out so he could do some exploring, he has his eye on the naughty bunny hopping over by the garden

Making some popcorn

Cameron wearing his zip jammies, eating popcorn and watching Empire Strikes back.

They had a good night, and even slept with the rooftop screen open so Cameron could look at the Stars, it was a bit chilly Paris said but Cameron stayed nice and toasty warm. They woke up early and ate their breakfast outside too. Cameron just LOVES the little adventure! I am so glad Paris is happy to do this with him.

Mother's Day

Whenever I see Lilacs I think of my Mom, they are one of her favorite flowers.

We spent the day with my Mom and Dad at their house. It was such a beautiful warm day - perfect for blowing bubbles!

Sofia loved them.

Trying to blow them, I think she ate more than blew

Sofia and her cousin Siena, they are just 3 months apart and it is fun to see them interact, I hope they grow up to be great friends.

Cameron and Sofia checking out the shells and rocks from Grandpa and Grandma's box of latest finds from the beach.

Cameron Swimming - May 4

It has been 2 years that Cameron has been taking swimming lessons
with Georgina. He just loves her and has learned so much!
Iit is fun to go each week and see the amazing progress,
she has started teaching him the dolphin kick and beginnings of the butterfly stroke.

Goggles on and ready to do some swimming

Excited about some great swimming!

Swimming back stroke the length of the pool

Now the forward crawl the length of the pool

Practicing his diving from the side of the pool.

Ready -
Bend
Stretch
SPLASH!

Sofia and her Peas

All Sofia needs to do is eat her peas.
She normally gobbles them right up, but this evening she was being a little stinker and seeing what she could get away with - (well, Cameron did this same thing at her age so we were onto her). We told her she couldn't get down until she finished eating her peas, and she wanted to get down because Cameron was outside playing and she wanted to join him. Well she cried and whined and cried and whined some more. Then after about 30 minutes she just sat there like nothing had ever happened and ate them all up.

Here she is saying "Noooooooo"

Then the crying
and
the whining
and a little pouting mixed in

And more crying, with some yelling -
notice how she has pushed her bowl and cup as far away as possible
like maybe they will just go away...

Now just eating and looking at us like nothing ever happened

Gobbling it all up

More big bites

Even a smirk and an "Mmmmmm"

Last big bite

All done!

Tooth #2 Lost - May 2

Cameron lost his 2nd tooth today. He came into the bathroom while I was fixing my hair and said, " Mom my tooth is about coming out" it sure was, just hanging by a tiny thread. He did one little wiggle and out it popped! It bled just a little bit, so he held a little toilet paper on it for a minute.
Sticking his tongue through the hole

The note with the tooth fairy pillow attached to his bed.

Yes, he lost this tooth somewhere in his bedroom. I was trying to be so careful after his first tooth vanished into thin air.... this time I told him to keep it in a cup on his dresser, but mysteriously he was peeking at it and he said it just fell out. I scoured the floor and vacuumned it with the swiffer sweeper to try and find it, but nothing. So he had to write another note to the tooth fairy. He is getting pretty good with his spelling, he wrote it by himself.
